Universal poet Rabindranath Tagore was the symbol of Indian Renaissance. He was directly associated with Indian politics from Anti-partition of Bengal movement and Freedom struggle. He received Nobel Award for his collection of poems the Gitanjali, and restored the glory of India in the International Platform. Tagore's philosophy on life and political ideology was humane. He inspired our country by the idea of Nationalism. He gave up his Knighthood in protest against Jalianwalabagh massacre. He congratulated the prisoners of Boxar and also presided over the assembly in protest against firing on the political prisoners of Hijli Jail. He was a great philanthropist. The National Anthem of India is one of his compositions.
Death anniversary of Rabindranath Tagore on 8th August
Death anniversary of Rabindranath Tagore will be observed in a befitting manner on 8th August, 2010 at Nimtola Burning Ghat at 8 a.m. Wreath placing will be arranged at the tomb of the Poet on behalf of State Government. Apart from Govt. officials, other persons will also pay their homage on the occasion.
